Each training session in Clinical Pastoral Training is called a unit. Each unit at Kaiser Sacramento is twelve weeks long. Normally, you will need to complete four units of training to become a Board Certified Clinical Counselor. If you do your clinical hours (the hours you spend with patients) at Kaiser Sacramento there will be no charge for tuition for each unit.
Each unit you will be placed in a cohort of between 3 and 8 people from a variety of ethnic, cultural, religious backgrounds. Our trainees have been an ethnically and religiously diverse group- Catholic, Earth Based/Wiccan, Eastern Orthodox, Hindu, Interfaith, New Thought and Protestant denominations are among the many religious traditions our trainees have practiced by our trainees.. Your cohort will journey with you as you learn to become a clinical chaplains- sharing the work of ministering to the patients of the hospital, processing together religious, social science and neuropsychoanaltical texts, and experiencing the power of Group Relations to bright to light your valences and the predilections of others. You will be challenged and changed by this experience!
